The International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD), also known as the Commission Internationale des Grands Barrages (CIGB), is a global organization founded in 1928 to advance the development, operation, and regulation of large dams and reservoirs. As a professional forum for engineers, researchers, policymakers, and organizations worldwide, ICOLD facilitates collaboration on the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of dams while addressing their environmental and socio-economic impacts. With over 100 member countries, ICOLD plays a pivotal role in fostering innovation and international partnerships to tackle key challenges, including dam safety, sedimentation, climate change, and sustainable water resource management.
